Scope

We selected the sources of emissions are included in the calculation, according to the Scope 1 (fuel use in vehicles or machinery of the company), Scope 2 (power consumption) and the Scope 3 (other indirect emissions).

Data collection

The organization has to gather all of the light bills, gas consumption and fuel of the year of calculation. If you decide to include Scope 3, the collection will be somewhat more complex.

Calculation

From the procurement of the emission factors appropriate, are applicable to the calculation of the carbon footprint of the organization by getting a final figure and an emissions inventory.

Objectives and actions for improvement

We establish a reduction Plan with concrete goals of reduction, a description of the actions to be performed in the following years. It is not mandatory to comply with the Plan to get the stamp, but it is a roadmap that accelerates the process of descarbonozación.

Recognition

Once drafted the Report of the carbon Footprint, is presented to an external entity, if you want to verify; and with the Ministry of Ecological Transition, thus obtaining the official seal.

Calculation process

Differentiation of our brand against competitors

Potential increase of sales to the end consumer, to demonstrate a better environmental performance than other brands

Regulacón on the way

The calculation of the carbon footprint will become a statutory legal requirement in certain economic sectors

seal with national and international recognition

Reputation increases and opportunities to close deals with multinational companies that require the calculation of the carbon footprint of its suppliers

greater economic benefits by improving the energy efficiency

In the calculation set out a plan to improve the energy efficiency, which reduces energy costs

To gain positions in the paperwork public

This certificate has already imposed as a requirement in certain subsidies and public procurement

Alignment with the overall objectives

Calculate the carbon footprint and try to reduce impacts in several Sustainable Development Goals, so that you'll have the support and opportunity to develop partnerships with numerous organizations

How does the seal of the Ministry?

In what cases must be verified by the calculation by a certifying entity?

There are some cases in which the study of the emissions of the organization is complex, so in order to obtain the seal of the Ministry, the company will need to verify with an external entity that the calculations have been done correctly, following an official standard. This requirement will be mandatory for the following cases:

  • If emissions of process significant and there is a calculator sectoral recognized by the Ministry (currently, there is only one for farms).
  • If you include scope 3 (indirect emissions).
  • If the organization is not SMES, or NGOS, or Public Administration.
ISO 14064-1 and the GHG Protocol are two of the official rules key that is used by organizations to guide them in the calculation of your carbon footprint.

How can I calculate the carbon footprint for my account?

The answer completely depends on two aspects: the size of the organization and the scope of the calculation. When it comes to a small organization, without processes industrial complex and the calculation does not go beyond the Scope 1 and 2, you can do it perfectly the calculation independently and choose to have the seal. The Ministry offers several guidelines to perform the calculation. The company should simply follow the steps and recommendations, but you must also be willing to invest time.

But if the organization is of a considerable size, and has industrial processes are complex, you might want to count with the external support of a consultant to perform the calculation correctly, set objectives, and actions appropriate and drafting the report.

Similarly, if the organization's wide Scope 3 calculation, it is interesting to count on outside help, as the methods of data collection may be more complex, and the need to consult with and obtain the emission factors necessary for the calculation.
